This walk begins at Egleton nature reserve, south shore.
Grid reference 877072. Sat. Nav. LE15 8BT. The car park is free.
Walk through the village of Egleton towards the 12th century parish church of St. Edmund.
Follow the road out of the village, turning right onto the main access road to the Hambleton peninsula. Follow the cycle route around the peninsula in an anti-clockwise direction.
Enjoy spectacular views across the reservoir, including Normanton church (now a museum).
A good time to do this walk would be towards the end of April / early May for the carpets of bluebells in Hambleton wood.
The day was warm and sunny but with a heat haze as can be seen in the photograph below.
