Italian restaurant formerly the Anchor Inn pub located by the River Trent and close to other eating establishments in this popular area.

The interior is modern but rather cramped in some places – some of our party were rather close to the stairs which could have been dangerous after one too many Peroni’s!

There is a bar where it is advertised on their website you can meet up for a drink prior to and following your meal. However, we were not offered this when our party of 4 arrived at different times 15 minutes prior to our booking. Instead we were individually shown to our table.

The restaurant this evening was very busy and as it was a Thursday the live entertainment was already playing at the time of our arrival.

The food was good – we shared the antipasto misto which we had enjoyed on a previous visit. This comprised Italian meats, cheeses, roasted peppers and a delicious nibble of bruschetta.

Our main courses included a risotto with a side salad which was colourful and tasty, pollo alla crema, pollo alla Griglia which was roasted with garlic and accompanied by delicious fries and a four seasons pizza.

Once we had finished our main courses we had to wait quite a while before being offered menus for dessert, despite the fact that the restaurant had now become less busy. However, once our desserts arrived with our cappuccino’s which were delicious and strong we were very happy with these. We ordered chocolate ice cream and our companions had a most delicious layered chocolate cake.

Overall the food was good; the service was a little confused as we did not seem to have a specific designated server but the live music let the atmosphere down which was disappointing as we had deliberately booked for this.

My partner and I had a promotional voucher for our meal but were rather surprised that this limited our choice somewhat although we could have paid extra for such items as steaks and some of the desserts. As we were dining with friends who did not have a voucher we felt a bit like poor relations.
