Biondi Gunthorpe
A lovely setting for a lunchtime sojourn especially in the summer as it is by the River Trent in Gunthorpe.

If you are lucky in the summer (as it is busier when the weather is good) you can sit outside just by the lock and have a close view of all the comings and goings as boats pass through.

They serve light lunchtime bites as well as full meals and have themed evenings such as a Tapas night.

The interior is modern and well decorated with a spacious eating area which opens out into the adjacent conservatory. There are lots of benches and tables outside for eating and drinking when the weather is warm.

Service can sometimes let the place down. We asked for our drinks with no ice as it was a cold day and when the waitress brought glasses full to the top with ice and I explained that we did not want ice she curtly asked “Did you ask for no ice?” When I replied that we did she took them away and returned promptly with our request. Also, the Panini I ordered was according to the menu served warm but it was cold which was rather disappointing.
